Organization of FESPACO: “This year, there was a real symbiosis between my supervisory ministry and me” (responsible)

This year, there were no problems (in the organization of FESPACO) because quite simply, there was a real symbiosis between my supervisory ministry and me" said Friday, the general delegate of FESPACO Moussa Alex Sawadogo in the public daily Sidwaya.

“This year, there were no problems because quite simply, there was a real symbiosis between my supervisory ministry and me. The artistic project that I proposed to him for this 28th edition has been accepted,” said FESPACO General Delegate Moussa Alex Sawadogo in the Friday publication of the public daily Sidwaya.

Mr. Sawadogo stressed that his supervisory ministry quickly understood what he wanted, that is to say the objectives he wanted to achieve, the professional character he wanted to give to the Festival and the impact that he was looking around.

The delegate general spoke during a report interview published this Friday in the public daily Sidwaya.

The interview focused on the organization of the 28? edition of the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou which took place from February 25 to March 4, 2023 under the theme “African Cinemas and Culture of Peace”.

He felt that "the good collaboration, the good symbiosis, not to say the interaction" that existed between his ministry and him meant that he and his team did not have the "difficulties" as in the previous edition. of FESPACO which took place in 2021. "This is how we should work", he said.

The previous edition of FESPACO was marked by misunderstandings between the general delegation and the supervisory ministry. "Two years ago, it was just a matter of lack of symbiosis between my parent ministry and me," said the DG.

For Moussa Alex Sawadogo, “from the moment (…) the general delegation of FESPACO, for (…) a year and a half, worked on the vision of FESPACO 2023, proposed an artistic project and started to work on it. Under no circumstances should men and women come within a month or two weeks of the opening of the festival to question this project”.

He noted that “there were no major concerns. The artistic project was accepted by my supervisory ministry. As for the choreographer Serge Aimé Coulibaly, he applied for our call for tenders and was selected. This allowed him to complete what he started two years ago.

The opening and closing shows of the 28th edition of Fespaco were directed by the world-renowned Burkinabè choreographer Serge Aimé Coulibaly, as were those of the previous edition.

"It was a question that beyond FESPACO, the world looks at Burkina as a country that does not give up, a creative country and which continues to positively influence the world of cinema", explained the general delegate Sawadogo.
