Tourism: Launch of new oasis eco-camping site in Tozeur

The "Oasis eco-camping" project, a 100% ecological campsite, has just been launched in Tozeur by the "IRADA" association in partnership with the "Promotion of Sustainable Tourism" project, implemented by the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts with the support of GIZ. This project offers visitors to the region a range of alternative activities to try out, including a walking and cycling trail and a relaxation and leisure area in the heart of the Tozeur oases. The project also plans to involve local artisans in its future activities. The initiative aims to diversify the local tourist offer, promote new reception and entertainment services, and build the capacity of young people through a series of training courses (first aid, campsite and bicycle maintenance, etc.). The first stages of the project have begun to take shape with the installation of a wooden relaxation area where visitors can use electric scooters. The next stages will focus on developing the region's ecotourism potential through the promotion of eco-camping and the organisation of guided tours, as well as strengthening synergies between stakeholders in the Tozeur region. The "Promotion of Sustainable Tourism" project is co-funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union through its "Tounes Wijhetouna" programme. Irada is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) working for the economic and social development of the Tozeur region.
